What We've Been Up To

We haven't been up to much lately, except this!!!

Can you believe it?
About a week or two ago, Burkley walked over to the toilet, pointed to it, and said poo poo!
So, I knew it was time for us to take a trip to Babies R Us to purchase a potty seat!
She tells me every single time she poo poo's her diaper (almost immediately) and lays her head on my shoulders like she's embarrassed.
We have practiced and practiced, we have sat and sat, and they have used many rolls of toilet paper this week...but NOTHING!!!
I know they are probably still a bit young, but at least they are getting the "urge" and are wanting to use the potty!
I'm such a proud mommy!
And I can't wait to see who the first one is that tee tee's or poo poo's the big potty!!!
There will be a celebration for sure!!!

6 Years (and 3 days to be exact)

On Saturday, Cory and I celebrated 6 years of wedded bliss!
I remember that day so clearly...I wanted a HUGE party and that's exactly what we had with 500+ guest in attendance!
We didn't get to celebrate this year like other "normal couples" celebrate their anniversary, as it was Cory's weekend on call and he was extremely busy at the funeral home on Saturday with funerals around the clock throughout the day and one Saturday evening.
We knew this pretty early on in the week, so the kids and I made plans to celebrate with Nea (aka Grammy) and Poppy.
Poppy treated us to some yummy Mexican food and we turned in early for the night.
See why I said we didn't celebrate like a "normal couple" this year?
But don't feel sorry for us, because we are heading to the beach house this weekend SOLO.
SOLO, meaning NO KIDS...just the two of us!
It's been almost a year since we have left B&B for more than one night!
We can't wait to sleep in, lay out/nap on the beach, have a few "adult" beverages, go out to dinner, and just relax...just the TWO of us!

Sorry for the quality of pictures...they are pictures of a picture!

New Kicks

Brooks and Burkley are gearing up for the up-coming school year and breaking in their new KICKS!
Not really breaking them in, just practicing walking in them!
They are so use to wearing flip flops and when I put them on them for the first time and they took their first steps in them, I about died.
They were high stepping!
It was the funniest thing ever.
So, I decided that we better practice walking in them and getting use to them before school starts in September!
Sweet little ("big") feet! Sweet little ("tiny") feet!

19 months old

I know, I can't believe it either.
How on earth are they already 19 months old?
Man, time sure flies by these days!
B&B are sooooooo much fun.
Cory and I love sitting back and watching them interact with one another and learn new things each and every day.
I sure hope they continue to be best buds as they grow up!

Since it was their 19 month birthday today, I decided to take them to story time at the library.
It was really cute and they sat still and listened as the librarian read.
That was until the little guy sitting next to us got up and headed over to the book shelf and started pulling out books and taking them to his mommy.
From that point on, it was all downhill!
They weren't bad by all means, they just wanted to get their own books to read off the little shelf that luckily was next to us!
Half way thru the second book, I decided that we all had had enough and we left.
I'm considering taking them to another neighboring library on Friday or one day next week as I've heard they have a great story time with puppets and songs!
Do you notice the bracelets that Burkley is wearing?
Thankfully I saved a few old ones for her to wear.
She's a girly girl and LOVES to dress up!

I still can't believe they are 19 months old.
That second birthday will be here before we know it...which means Christmas will be too!
YIKES!
Oh, and Burkley's outfit...it's another one that she wore last summer!

Zing, Zang, Zoom

On Saturday, Poppy and Nea (Grammy's new name thanks to Kyla) took all of us (minus Shea) to The Greatest Show on Earth. This was Kyla's second year to attend and B&B's first year to attend the circus. The kids LOVED the show and the parents/grandparents loved watching three little faces light up with excitement!
It was PRICELESS!

Here's quite a few pictures from our family outing!

The Scott's

The Born's (minus Shea...she will be in attendance next year)

Burkley getting her elephant out of the bag that Poppy just bought

Kyla kissing her elephant

Poppy and Nea with 3 of the 4 grandchildren

The silly rockstar clowns

Patriotic Elephant during the opening act

Brooks' eyes glued to the opening act

Poppy, Kyla, and Kyle's eyes glued too

Acrobats

Yeah for the elephants

And Burkley's eyes glued too

The tigers...they understood Spanish

Just a few pictures I took at Goode Company Seafood...that's where we ate afterwards

So sweet!
We had a BLAST and can't wait for the circus to come to town next year!

What a MESS

Whew, I'm exhausted!
Last night we (me, Cory, B&B, and my parents) made the trek all the way to Ikea to purchase this nifty little organization shelf with pull out tubs.
I've been looking for something to organize all of their many toys, but just haven't seen anything that I really liked.
That is until I saw these on Steph's facebook page.

So, this is what the room looked like after dinner this evening!
I'm slowly sifting through everything and trying to find just the right place for everything (why, I don't know because I know it won't stay there long...but it's worth a try).
I must admit that the room no longer looks like it does in the picture!
I just forgot to take a picture after everything was picked up off the floor and I'm too tired to get up and do it now!
And this was another reason I needed to organize!
B&B were given this Kangaroo Climber for their first birthday (thanks Matt, Tarah, Luke, and Hudson) and it's been in the box ever since then.
We were waiting for them to get a little bigger and we finally decided it was time.
It was so cute because they both were running around and around squealing while Cory and I were putting it together.
They were so excited and couldn't wait!
They both knew exactly what to do and have had a BLAST playing on it this evening!
And they are loving pulling the tubs in and out and seeing what's in them!

Notice Brooks' not so happy face?
He was so excited and was in such a hurry that he bumped his lip!
No worries, he was good to go in no time at all!
I still have a few more things I want to do in that room to make it "fun" so I'll be sure to post pictures when I get around to it!

Ca-Ca

Ca-Ca, that would be what Burkley says when she wants to color.
And we've been doing it a lot lately since the mosquito's are terrible.
Brooks getting down to business coloring Kelly from Handy Manny!

Burkley coloring away in her Strawberry Shortcake book!

Sometimes the crayons "slip" off the paper!
But that's okay because they are washable!
Concentrating...

She starts off with her right hand for some reason (which is odd because she tends to favor her left)!
And please notice her little head...really getting into coloring!

And now using her left hand!
I'm pretty sure she's going to be a lefty, but only time will tell!
I'm sure we will be spending many more days at the kitchen table coloring!
