Brooks and Burkley had their first "long" road trip this past weekend to Llano, Texas.
And it won't be their last, that's for sure!
I was a bit nervous as to how they would do in the car for 4 1/2 hours, but they did great!
We left around 11 am on Friday and drove to La Grange and had lunch.
Just a little tip...if you are traveling with young children and decide to eat at the Whataburger in La Grange, Texas, you might want to bring your own booster seat because they only have ONE high chair!
Luckily, we packed the booster seats
Katie and I met 6 years ago teaching first grade and have been friends since.
It's not too often that you have a great friend and your husbands "click" and become the best of friends too.
During the year that Katie and I taught together, Rob was finishing up medical school at UT in Houston.
After graduation, they moved to Waco where Rob completed his residency, and now they are back in their home town, Llano, Texas.
We always get together during the summer to visit and this year it was our turn to travel!
I kept calling and asking if they were SURE they were ready for us!
Burkley and her buddy for the weekend, Uncle Rob!
They both took to Katie and Rob like they see them all the time...and I'm pretty sure they (Katie and Rob) LOVED it!
I'm pretty positive that Aunt Katie was telling Burkley that she was a MESS in this picture!
It's such a cute little town...lot's of little boutiques and cafes (wish I would have snapped a picture of them).
And of course, a trip to another town is not complete without checking out the funeral home/s
When we learned that they were crushing grapes Saturday morning, we decided to head on out and watch!
In the above picture, the grapes had just been weighed and are being "dumped" into a machine that separates the berries and the stems!
These wines weren't part of the wine tasting!
Poor Mr. Barkley had been up since 3:30!
Grapes being cleaned and having the stems removed!
This is where all the stems go...if you look closely, you can see them piling up!
In deep conversation...there's no telling what these two are talking about!
Room where the wine is bottled!
And this is where the wine bottles are labeled!
Such a sweet picture!
Aunt Katie was giving us the "behind the scene" tour!
It was beautiful!
Katie's sister, Sarah, showing off her puppy to B&B!
B&B giving Uncle Rob a few pointers on the washer game!
Mr. Barkley reading to B&B!
Mrs. Barkley reading to B&B!
Katie and Rob invited their parents and siblings over for dinner and to meet us (well, probably just B&B)!
Brooks doing what he does best, being a BOY!
I'll let the pictures do the talking!
(and by this point, it's like 11 pm and B&B are still going strong. good thing for the late nap)

(and by this point, it's like 11 pm and B&B are still going strong. good thing for the late nap)
But it was nearing midnight and baby girl wanted/needed a snack!

And it most certainly will not be our last either!
The weekend went by so fast and I hated leaving Sunday morning.
It's never easy saying goodbye!
Thanks again Katie and Rob for your friendship, for opening up your home for us this weekend, and for loving B&B like they are your own!
We love and miss you guys!
XOXO
